Congratulations to Anna on her first horse - Quinn, formerly Matt Flynn’s Weatherly.  He was the lovely horse we found on the June trip to PA and NJ to look at many lovely horses.  He has settled well and Anna has started training with plenty of enthusiasm!

Welcome Carlos, my new groom and set of muscles for helping us at shows.

We had planned for a great weekend away in Georgia attending the Summer 1 Chatt Hills horse trials July 9th and 10th.   Just me, Grayson, Hannah , the horses and Carlos the super groom left 4.30am Thursday for our 14 hour drive.

It was the first show outside of Texas for Grayson and Hannah and mothers were not travelling! We had a wonderful set of results with both girls winning their respective classes and achieving the goal of qualifying for the AEC’s. My Dillon placed 3rd in the Intermediate and Revi 9th. Sadly Harley did not come home.

The results were great but the loss of Harley on the cross country only an hour before their rides was something that the girls had to deal with before stadium for Grayson and cross country for Hannah. I was very proud of how at 13 years old they pulled their focus together to give their horses both the focus and skill required to hold their first places.

Greystone’s Harley – Chatt Hills Event
Harley sadly died on the cross country phase from a massive pulmonary hemorrhage. He was placing 2nd at his second prelim start and had 1 of only 4 clear show jumping rounds out of the prelim classes the day before. He was a beautiful horse and I know he tried to carry me as carefully as he could while his staggering canter slowed down before he fell, softening the fall for me. He passed very quickly and will always be remembered.

THANK YOU to everyone at Chatt Hills and everyone who texted and emailed their condolences. Our thoughts are with Jo Bailey and her team at Normandy Farm who raised Harley from a foal into the lovely horse I was able to ride for them.

More congratulations for Annie, Grayson and Hannah for all now being qualified for the AECs!! Yay!!
Next event is Richland in Michigan, then Feather Creek in Oklahoma and then the AECs!!!!!!!!!!!!
