Late Summer update…. Congratulations to Double Rivers Really Cool for winning Richland CIC** by 6 points then backing up as the 2011 Intermediate American Eventing Champion, winning by more than 8 points. Revi being the youngest horse in the class  has proved to be truly REALLY COOL!

In other exciting news, we are also SOooooo excited to have the saddle and tack brand CWD as a NEW  sponsor. I had a ride in the jumping and dressage models and have picked two suitable dressage ones fitted to the very different backs of Dillon and Revi and the Cross Flat jumping saddle with  a nice flat seat that I love for XC. All recommended and advised by Lisa Weinwurm who is the agent for GA, TN, NC and SC. I look forward to meeting the Texas agent Robin Walker- 214 557 6266, if needing a new saddle, you won’t go wrong here.

It has been a very busy summer training many horses, establishing so many new training ideas in my new students along with the competition highlights and lows that is eventing!

In late August my Australian trainer Heath Ryan did a Clinic which was a fabulous experience for all the participants. The ground Heath can cover in a lesson is astounding. He is so motivated and motivating I am still amazed how effective his training is and why the average horse person is so far from this man’s ability to influence a horse. Revi went from wonderful to super star at his clinic-the results at Richland and the AEC’s are the results of Heath’s dressage clean up for me.

The trip to Richland, Michigan with Dillon and Revi at the end of August was a very long drive. Carlos and I set off at 12 noon Sunday and arrived just before the sun went down in Springfield Missouri. We stayed at the lovely Freisan farm Black Diamond where the horses stayed in 5 star stalls! The next day we started early and drove all day till we arrived at the venue, immediately putting on jackets and blankets as the temp was in the 60’s and what I thought was freezing! Texas has had the hottest summer on record….

Kadi and Revi before trot up at Richland CIC**

The event went smoothly, both did very good dressage, wonderful x/c (over an enormous Ian Stark course) and show jumped clear! I was very happy with Revi for winning (obviously) but Dillon was amazing too. If I had caught the short cut every other rider seemed to have found  through the 2 star track backwards to get to the 3 star jumps I would have saved at least 15 seconds and gained 3rd or 4th . Still this horse is going to hit form soon and I must remember he was only training level last year when I got him in March.

All the students who qualified so late in the year for the AEC’s had their first major championships at the stunning venue owned by Carl Bouckaert. The AEC’s was a taste of eventing for my 13yo’s that opened them to the challenges of eventing and competing with large numbers of riders in the divisions and all the atmosphere and nerves that attaches to this level of performance. The girls didn’t place this year but they did well to qualify in such a short time before the Champs. Still I am proud of all their rounds and look forward to them taking their experiences forward to their next event.

Annie and Sam had a very smooth AEC’s after many weeks of keeping Sam’s feet comfortable with the hard Texas ground.  Displaying the training she has worked for to produce 3 lovely phases with a particularly balanced stadium round was nice to see. The goal of doing Prelim while Sam is still on top of his age is getting closer! Well done Annie you have been eventing for not yet a year and have grown enormously in riding and horsemanship. Watch out Div (Annie's young horse)!

Welcome Margaret and Gretchen and their horses.

Welcome Lori and Chile!

Our next events include:

GREENWOOD Area 5 Champs- Training level upgrade for Grayson, Training Champs for Hannah, first Novice start for Anna and Quinn, first BN start for Gretchen and Margaret and Diego are up grading to Novice.

Basil Brush doing the Intermediate Champs.

The Normandy Farm sale horses, Pidey and Jacko having their first starts at novice.

Then the DANSKO  FAIR HILL INTERNATIONAL  CCI  3 Star and 2 star for Dillon and Revi - Oct 12-16th

Bye for now
